Content Summary:
This book was a biography about The Jonas Brothers, a popular boy band. The book highlights their newly found stardom and gives background information about each of the specific members, as well as the group as a whole. The most interesting parts of the book included information that is not very well-known such as one of their health issues with diabetes and also about some charity work that they are doing. The typical parts of a biography were included too, such as birth dates, parents names, and chronological events of their lives. There were numerous pictures from the beginning of their stardom to now, capturing many of their top moments.
Critique:
This book was presented well, the pictures and page layouts made the book appealing to the eye, as well as interesting. The text was easy to read, but almost too easy. It felt like an elementary book rather than a middle school book at parts. It would be interesting and at the appropriate reading level for a middle school student, but it almost crosses the line of being too babyish or easy for them.
Curriculum Issues:
Since young adults are so interested in popular musicians and celebrities, getting them to read this book would be easy. It would be a great way to introduce young adults to the biography collection in a library and to encourage them to read them. This book is part of a series of biographies about celebrities and teen idols. The books are all easy to read, interesting, and include good photographs. Teens would love to have this book included as part of their classroom learning and would be excited to learn if they could read this book during their lesson.
