Great book for beginner wire artisans and those who love dainty jewelry designs. Wire work with basic tools and jigs are covered. Some really pretty twisted wire designs are included. ( ) This book emphasizes wire work and is not strictly beading which I found a nice change. Good overview of basic techniques and the application of those are used in the projects. She presents a nice combination of techniques as well - jig, hand shaping, hammering, using glue, etc. Very nice, feminine designs. Well photographed and easy to follow instructions. I have made copies of several designs as well as adapting some with my own ideas. I've returned to it often so as a reference it's a good source.
"Aimed at beginners, Inspired Wire gives tips and instructional photos on how to make simple jewelry with wire. Learn basic wire components, such as coils, loops, hooks, earwires, and clasps. Then put these basic skills to work with several elegant designs. The author also uses jigs to make hearts and daisy chains. Other designs focus on links. A stylish use of the jig is displayed in the Turquoise Link Bracelet. A highlight at the very end of the book is a gallery of beautiful wire jewelry made by the author. Inspired Wire is sure to give you many great ideas to incorporate into your jewelry." "Learn how to twist and bend wire to make pretty wire jewelry with Inspired Wire, a jewelry maker's guide using techniques perfect for newcomers to wire jewelry. A minimum of equipment is needed to produce the most complex of designs and eye-catching blends of wire and beads, making this an outstanding pick for any library strong in crafts or jewelry-making books. Large full-page photos and easy instructions contribute to a winner." "This book has one of the best introductions I've ever read. I'm not sure every reader takes the time to read an introduction since many crafters are excited and want to jump right in and get started, but this one is worth the effort to slow down and really use the book to learn. Wuller explains who she is, why she wrote the book, and how to use the book and get the best results. The book is well laid out in five chapters starting with The Basics followed by Using The Basics. A very savvy move in my opinion for a book outline... Each chapter except Chapter 1 had many projects to help the learning curve bend in the novice's favor, but I think even the more advanced jewelry enthusiast would enjoy this book as a refresher. Wuller has done one of the best jobs I've ever read on really teaching the basics of working with wire to create earrings, bracelets, necklaces, pins, and rings and I like that she included pearls and beads in the mix making the wire much more approachable by a wider audience. Great read!"
