This book is a very relatable problem for many children: siblings. Specifically, mean big sisters! The plot is not very complex, but it depicts the struggles of the youngest child dealing with older siblings in a humous way. Joshua's sisters won't share and like to play keep-away with his toys, and he has to remind himself over and over that they do like him, even if it doesn't seem like it. Their parents leave the two sisters in charge while they are out, and Josh is not excited. His sisters are tired of him bugging them, so they decide to play a trick on Josh by blindfolding him and pretending to take him out into the woods to leave him there. While they just brought him to the backyard and were only pretending, Josh had enough. He decides to trick them back and hides. His sisters search everywhere and worry that he really did run away. When they find him, they promise never to mess with him like that again. They are much nicer to Josh afterwards, and he rests assured that they do, actually, like him. ( )

This book is adorable. This clever little boy, hassled and teased by his older twin sisters, gets revenge on them. Mom left the girls in charge while she ran an errand. After they wouldn't share toys or let him watch TV, they further tortured him by blindfolding him, tying him to a tree, and joking they were going to tell their mom that he ran away. The girls retreat inside while the boy and his dog escapes his situation. He decided to hide from the sisters as they panicked to find him. Because they worried so much about his safety, despite him being treated so unfairly, he realized they really did like him! I laughed out loud at this book; it was a joy to read! ( )

They Really Like Me is a book about three siblings, 2 girls and a boy. The mother decides to go to the grocery store and leaves them by themselves. The two girls do not like to play or to watch television with their youngest sibling. They put him a blindfold and takes him to the yard. At the end he decides to hide himself, but then the sisters start looking for him. I would totally put this book as a reading assignment in order for my students to realize that they should take car of their young siblings. ( )
