Friends and Relations (Headline review)

This book is very much one big cliché. We gallop through a fairly predictable plot without time to develop characters who have any depth. Its only value seems to me to be as a simplistic perspective on the Thatcher years of English history. For this depth of analysis, however, the 185 pages taken up by this story could satisfactorily be reduced to less than one.
I only chose this book at the library because I was getting a couple of Joan Barfoot's - Margaret Bacon was just nearby on the shelves and the blurb sounded OK. "...a moving and thoughtful novel..." the publisher said. Well, they would say that, wouldn't they?
Margaret Bacon will now go on my "don't bother" list. ( )
