This is one of those true stories that reads like a novel- fast paced, gripping, and even though you know "how it all ends," hard to put down. For a reader who can put aside political pre-conceptions about the events and the people involved and just enjoy the story, this can be a real treat. ( )

The Iran Contra affair seems like such old news now, but it was somewhat interesting reading this account of it from one of the principal players. It is written in a very straightforward manner and is not particularly engaging. North pleads his case in several points, attesting to his innocence by explaining how he got swept up in the events that lead up to the scandal. Judge him how you may this book is in interesting case study in the working of our modern day political system. Sadly, things haven't gotten any better since North's day--the philosophy that "the end justifies the means" is still alive and well! ( )

I don't care what anybody says, this Marine is a true American hero and I hold him in the highest regard ( )
