This story is about a little girl searching for her lost red mitten. She searches all through the snow, retraces her steps, and imagines the different scenarios and places her mitten could be.
Uses: I don't think I would use this in a classroom, though it is a very cute and heartwarming story. It just doesn't really have any academic value.

This story is great for emergent readers. The story only has one simple sentence on each page and the illustrations are helpful hints for new readers. The story is about a girl named Annie who has lost her mitten. Annie goes on a journey to search for her mitten but she still can't find it. At the end of the story Annie's teacher finds Annie's mitten in the heart of a snowman outside. This is a really cute story for new readers! ( )

Annie can't find one of her red mittens and that makes five mittens this winter that she's lost. So she goes searching for it -- and finds everything everyone else has lost, but not her mitten. She begins to imagine what would happen if you planted a mitten and a mitten tree sprouted. The teacher calls her inside. Later they notice that as the snowman outside the window is melting, a spot of red is appearing on his cheat. Annie's mitten is his heart! ( )
