After reading a bit, I realized that I hadn't read any of them. This book follows the same format as many paranormal romances...the tortured, immortal warrior find his one true love, the only woman that can ease his pain. In this case, it is a immortal warrior who is cursed to be the host for a demon, one of many demon's that had escaped from Pandora's box. Each book in the series appears to tell the story of one of the cursed warriors, and how they find their true love. I am not sure how many demons escaped from the box, so I don't know how many individuals there are for this series, but it appeared to be a large number. There are a lot of characters in this book, and it was hard for me to keep track of them all. I think if I had read the first two books in the series, it would have been a lot easier for me. The story jumped around to different points of view with each chapter. That was a little frustrating for me because just as I would be getting into Reyes and Danika's story, it would change to tell what a different character was experiencing and feeling. At times the shifts were too sudden for me. Overall, I felt that this was a good book, just not a great book. I can see myself reading other books in this series, but they are not at the top of my list of books to read. I liked this story better than the last one, it wasn't as good as I hoped. It was just so slow moving; it needed more action. I liked the relationship between Reyes and Danika, though there were some "eww" moments at time. I felt so bad for Paris and wonder what's going to happen with him. The mythology is very good in this series and is the main reason I am going to continue reading it. The Darkest Pleasure 3.5 Stars Synopsis Reyes is possessed by the demon of Pain and can only experience pleasure when he is in agony. He also craves the love of a mortal woman, Danika Ford, who has been targeted by the Gods for reasons unknown and the only way he can win her love is to defy the Gods and his fellow warriors as well. Review After reading book #1, I was really looking forward to this story and most of my expectations were met. The romance between Reyes and Danika is satisfying as they have a powerful chemistry and the conflict between Danika's loyalty to her family and her attraction to Reyes is well played out. Nevertheless, they are not as appealing as individuals. Reyes's affliction is distasteful (through no fault of his own but there are a few "icky" scenes) and Danika's willingness to act on behalf of the hunters until well into the book makes it difficult to completely identify with her. The development of the overall story arc is the most compelling aspect of the book, especially the twists and turns with the All Seeing Eye and the well written action scenes. However, one issue that annoyed me in particular was the question of whether or not Aeron killed Danika's grandmother. Why didn't they just ask Lucien if he escorted her soul anywhere? The set-up of Paris and Sienna's story also continues, and the more insight into his nature we get, the more I feel for him and the more eager I am to read his book (although I still have quite a way to go until then). Overall, not a bad story and I will be continuing. sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha
Reyes, a possessed man bound by the demon of pain and forbidden all pleasure, is drawn to Danika Ford, a mortal woman on the run who has eluded the Lords of Underworld for months but who cannot forget Reyes's searing touch. Não foram encontradas descrições de bibliotecas. |

I really liked this book and have quickly become a huge fan of this series; what a gripping story!
I don't think that this book can be read without having read the previous books and it does leave you needing to read the next book to continue the main background story arc as well as leaving some romantic sub-plots hanging (hence not 5 stars) but what a cram-packed tale!
I loved the relationship development between our romantic couple which started in the previous book; the twists & turns, the action, the passion and the heart melting romance. I can't wait to read the next book in this amazing series! (
