Rachel is haunted by terrifying visions of death--and all of them are coming true Rachel Seaver is having visions. In a tranquil seascape painting, she sees a terrified woman drowning in the ocean waves. That night, she has a dream in which a student she barely knows is murdered. The next day, she finds out he's dead--the victim of a drowning. In a still-life painting of a vase of flowers, Rachel sees someone tumbling down a steep flight of metal stairs. The same night, a poet falls down the fire escape at Nightingale Hall. Rachel's visions keep getting worse as her mind's eye paints terrifying pictures of murder. And then she starts receiving death threats that claim she won't live to see another Monday. Someone is watching Rachel . . . watching and waiting . . . A stone-cold killer with the perfect canvas on which to immortalize her forever. In "Deadly Visions", Rachel is enticed to witness an art gallery not because of her love for art but because of her love for one of the art students,Adrian. Togther with her friends, Rudy, Joseph, Samantha, Bibi and Paloma, they embark on a trail of finding the suspect and saving Rachel's own life.
The story began with Rachel seeing a figure drowning in a mixture of blue and green blobs of paint in one painting in the art gallery. The painting shows no hint of whoever painted it nor when it was painted but the painting itself was present without any identity.
Much to her disappointment,it was only Rachel who could see someone die within the painting and her friends cannot see the figure she is referring to. Dismissing it as an optical illusion of some sort, Rachel pursues her activities like any normal college student would.
Later that night, Rachel experiences a dream. She sees Ted Leonides, one of her school mates, fishing in a dangerous like within the town. Suddenly,a hooded figure dressed in black appears behind Ted and slams him with a baseball bat that the figure is carrying. Having this being done,Ted falls down into the river and the pressure of the water brings him into a waterfall where he fell and hit the rocks down below. This led to his death.
The following morning,Rachel receives bad news from her friend Bibi that Ted Leonides had died. Instinctively, Rachel felt flushed and nervous. Her dream had come true but in a different sort of way. First, everybody believed that Ted drowned while Rachel's dream spelled otherwise.
The dream gave light to the death in a different shade to Rachel who, after looking for the painting, saw another painting, this time,a still life of a bouquet of flower in a vase.
Although the vase looks like a blend of flowers to some, Rachel could see another hidden illustration of someone falling down a flight of stairs. The next few days revealed the accident of Miko in a stair accident wherein Rachel had dreamt of once again. In her dreams, someone had whispered "Fire!" to the young Mike,an aspiring poet which caused him to move from his bed to the rusty and unstable fire escape. He was pushed and brutally met an accident.
The next few events revealed to Rachel that she is targeted next from having been locked to a storage room in the art department building where she has to face a bloody escape from the tenth floor down to the ground floor down to death threats ("YOU WON'T SEE ANOTHER MONDAY") and finally, towards the unveiling the real killer behind it all.
The story failed and succeeded in some aspects. First, the author's effective means of hiding the killer was effective and real. You would never expect that he/she was the person behind the accidents & death. The character's action though is somewhat bothering and farfetched. Rachel acted in a way that stalked and endangered people are not supposed to behave and in some circumstances, did not have much instinct throughout the whole event being dependent from friends that she suspected which is very strange.
