The illustrations were simple and soft. The story was about Roger and his class as they prepared for a school play and he is nervous about his part. When it is finally the night of the play, Roger is getting scared, counting down the lines until he has to go out and perform. He powers through his anxiety and the play goes great. At the end, Roger's father takes a picture of him, but Roger knows that he will never forget that moment for the rest of his life. ( )

It is a fun book to read during Halloween time, I think the students will enjoy that. After reading the book, the teacher can make an activity out of it. The students can draw a pumpkin or even a mice to make it fun. ( )

The Halloween Play is a simple story about Roger, who is a mouse, and his class preparing for a Halloween Play they are putting on for the school. It tells of the practicing and invite making. The words are separated by small pictures within the page. I think this would be helpful in letting the student either read it to you while they point at the word or to follow along while you read the words. At the end, Roger's part of a huge success and he is very pleased with himself. I would definitely recommend this book for Halloween time and a lesson on being confident. ( )
