"Fairy Tales From Far and WIde" is a collection of 7 fairy tales from different countries. Each story is unique in its own way and has a connection to the country it comes from. When I was reading some of the stories, some of them were stories I have never heard before. This book would be great to read to students for many different lessons. This book exposes them to folklore, and the meaning they can get from each story. It also teaches them about different countries, and how certain aspects of the story only relate to the country it originated from. This book was a great book to read, and I am happy I did because I got to learn about different fairy tales I never read about as a child. ( ) I read 2 stories: The Sun Egg and Anansi and the Magic Pot The Sun Egg was a cute little story based on a Swedish tale. The theme of this is to value dreams. Anansi and the Magic Pot is about a man who is trying to feed his family. Anansi stories are trickster folklore by a spider who tries to overcome large creatures. The theme of this story is Don't let any one mess with your belongings. This is a book of fairy tales from 7 different countries. They were all nice and short. They could work well for an introduction to thematic units for different countries, or an extension lesson for younger grades on fairy tales and folk tales. I know Common Core stresses exposing younger children to diverse storytelling, and this could be a great book for that in maybe first and second grade. I think the stories were a little childish for third graders. Reading Level: 6.1 Interest Level: K-3 sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha
