Elevator Magic is a book about young boy learning how to use subtraction strategies to get him and his mom on the correct floor. This book has kid friendly words for young readers to read. ( ) A boy meets his mother on the 10th floor of a high rise. On the way down, Mom needs to do some errands. The first stop, two floors down, is to cash a check at the Farm Bank and Trust, which is (funny enough) filled with horses, barns, and hay fields. Students can play along as you read and move counters down the number line to predict which floor they will go to next. Simple one-digit take-away problems are used in this book. This book is a great way to introduce or reinforce basic subtraction skills. Perfect for K-1 and early-2. This is an entertaining book that is an easy way to talk about subtraction in the classroom with students. The little boy is in an office building that is familiar to children because most have been to work or a business with their parents that is similar to the office building. It is cute in the way they subtract without really even realizing they are doing so. It is definatly a read for younger classes. http://www.stuartjmurphy.com/ tells more about the author and his works with mathstart books and also has a newsletter open and available regarding the books. sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha
