Eh. Same Garfield. ( )

The last of the Garfield books of my youth. I remember being such a big fan of this cat back in the day, but now other comic-strip cats are more preferable (Heathcliff, Brimstone).

These are still entertaining strips, but there's just something about them that feels... off. Perhaps that there's never much of a progression. This is book 21 of collected Garfield strips, yet it feels like it could have come right after the last collection I read, book 12.

This collection is more of the same as the last, with a little more into the dating life of Jon Arbuckle. Here he finally convinces Garfield's vet to go on a date with him (disastrous), and he meets someone new in a pottery class (a very interesting, yet odd, someone).

More mailman, more mouthfuls, more Mondays, more sleeping, more Garfield. ( )

I don't understand the popularity of Garfield. He's so mean to Odie, and to Jon. But if a thrift store practically throws the book at me while I'm shopping for my OBCZ, I guess I can spend a few minutes reading it. No Nermal in this one. A little bit of Liz. Not much action outside the house (ie, the almost funny Beware of Dog signs that we've seen more lately.) The boys did go to the farm, the beach, and camping - but all only briefly. ( )
