I'm not sure how much it has to do with Hume, who has never been very generative for me, but Deleuze raises some interesting ideas here that I would be happy to follow up in the Scottish philosopher's work if only the French theorist had given us proper citations or references, or at least some quotations. Here they are:

1. The idea that coming from a post-empirical or -inductive perspective rather than the deductive logic popular with the Greeks, Hume sees our knowledge as contingent and therefore that his skepticism is of a different kind. The ancient, dogmatic irony of Socrates, where the productiveness comes from the tension between what is and what seems to be, giving way to a modern skepticism where we can't know what is and where what seems to be changes with new information--therefore, where irony gives way to a ludic WHAAA WHERE IS THE REST OF MY REVIEW? :( Thing Two was that post-empirical society is "partial", not egotistical, and I forget thing three.
