This book sat in my to-be-read pile for some time, possibly due to the old-fashioned cover that did not appeal. Once I started reading though, I could not put it down. The story has all the elements that make a great romance with a plot that keeps you guessing until the very end. I highly recommend this book and this author. ( ) This one has a few more anchors to the past than most. Interesting references to scars and events in France it's a story of a woman who uses a man as a shield and then has to pay him back for the shielding, along with the past catching up with people and making a mess of things. Thornton Lindsay is an interesting character, a little to angst ridden sometimes but otherwise you can understand some of his caution. Caroline is also interesting but she keeps running away from people when they offer help, which is a bit counterintuitive. Still both together are fun even if some of the details are a little dodgy once they discover some of the truths about each other. Diverting but not quite enough. sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha

SURPRISING The war-scarred Thornton Lindsay, Duke of Penborne, can scarcely believe the news when a beautiful stranger comes to London proclaiming to be his lover. SECRETIVE Caroline Anstretton is on the run and desperate. Her gamble that the reclusive duke won't leave the sanctuary of his home is lost when he coolly confronts her. SENSUAL Courtesan or charlatan, this mysterious, sensual woman intrigues Thorn. There's a vulnerability beneath her smile and easy laughter. Could she be the one to mend a life he'd thought damaged beyond repair? Não foram encontradas descrições de bibliotecas. |
