A chronicle of the life of Paul Bowles, this tome includes the music, the marriage, the exile and more. With depictions of Bowles' intimate friends including Capote, Ginsberg, and others, this narrative captures the milieu that ensconced him - a world that I found both intriguing and fascinating. ( ) Makes one appreciate the fact that Bowles was not only a gifted writer/translator, but also a brilliant composer. Provides a lot of detail about his relationship with his wife (Jane) and the beat poets. Bowles was visited by Ginsberg, Burroughs, Tennessee Williams, and Gore Vidal (among others), and can be credited with the fact that many became interested in Morocco as a result of his writing.
