This book is about a young girl who is late getting home to her parent's house. On her way home she thinks she encounters some very hairy and scary animals. The author uses verse form to write the lines. The words are meant to be funny and scary at the same time. The illustrator depicts wonderful images to go along with the text. If I were a teacher I would read this to my students when discussing poetry or if it were around Halloween time. ( )

A little girl stays late at a friend’s house, instead of calling her father, she decides to sneak back into her bed without her father knowing. When she leaves she realized that she should have called her father, but when she was walking back to her friend’s house she see a very hairy scary spider. She runs from the spider and runs into a hairy scary skunk, ape, and lion. All the animals chase her until she runs into her dad, and all the scary animals went away. This would be a good book for a read aloud because it teaches children that they should not venture off by themselves because there are creepy things that could hurt them. ( )

Sarah stays at her friends house much to late and decides not to call her father but to walk home instead. Sarah walks home to get in bed before her father finds out how late she was out at her friends house. On her way home Sarah runs into some hair, scary creatures. Just as she thinks she can not run anymore around the corner was her father. She jumped right into his arms as he carried her home. This is a great rhyming story, it is great to teach children do not walk alone at night, there are many scary creatures out there. ( )
