It is irrefutable that as we get older, the quirks and imperfections that we all possess become more pronounced, more obvious, and frankly, more annoying to those around us Oddly enough, we all have the potential to exhibit accentuated personality flaws and behavior patterns, but it is only very rare individuals who recognize these tendencies in themselves. Those of us in the baby boomer generation are often sandwiched between young adult children and elderly, often somewhat eccentric parents. For many baby boomers, the pressure of caring for senior loved ones can be awesome; thus strange and peculiar behaviors on the part of these loved ones can exacerbate an already difficult situation. However, when these scenarios are revisited, they can also be very humorous. Herein lies the intent of this work: to look at our greatest generation's loved ones with a humorous perspective, remembering that someday, God willing, the minor quirks we now possess may very well become major sources of frustration to our children. "Stool Softener's Not a Foam Cushion" is a heartfelt acknowledgment that life is imperfect and so are people. By exposing the humor in our imperfections, we can all become more tolerant, more patient, and ultimately, more compassionate toward those who have given us so much.
