Mystery This story has two main characters, a brother and sister named Jack and Annie. Jack, the oldest sibling, is very cautious and protective of his little sister Annie. When Jack and Annie discover they are going to be in a play for their friend Will, Jack is terrified. He fears he will not perform well and is nervous that the audience will not like him. During the play, Annie disappears. Jack instantly runs off to find Annie in the woods trying to save a bear from its owner. When the owner began to get angry with Annie, Jack stepped between them and defended his sister. I love how Mary Pope Osborne connected the first four stories in this collection with a common thread.
