Carlotta is an amazing character! This book represents what the west meant for so many people. It represented adventure and new beginnings. Charlotte's voice can make anything happen, just like many people thought the west could. It was a land full of endless possibilities. Anything could happen in the west, and anything could happen when Ms. Carlotta opened her mouth. ( )

Carlotta Carusa is a confident and amazing opera singer. She loves singing, but is yearning for somewhere new to grace the people with her amazing voice. Carlotta decides she wants to go to "The American West". She wants to sing for the cowboys and buffalo, so she packs up her stuff and heads out west. Carlotta sings for many people, and her vice is so amazing that it stops wild coyotes, and makes rain fall from the sky. The time period is not said in the book, but based off of the story I would say this took place during the Western expansion, when many people wanted to explore more of the land, and see what new beginnings it could bring them. The stagecoach and horses also give an idea of what time period the book takes place in. As the main character, Carlotta only wants to sing and she wants everyone to hear her singing and hoe beautiful it is. They face different obstacles on their adventure, but Carlotta's confidence is what keeps them going till the end. ( )

Opera singer, Carlotta Carusa, is tired of the same ole scene and decides it’s time to go an adventure to the west. She takes off on her wagon and all she wants to do is sing. Even with all the eye rolls, nothing can stop Carlotta from doing what she loves best, singing! While traveling with a few of her friends, she crosses paths with the adventure she desires. Because she was headed to the west, she had to face wolves, snakes, a drought and a villain, but nothing that her high-pitched singing couldn’t stop. Her voice was her “weapon” and she was able to win over all her obstacles by singing into their hearts. This Wild West is a humorous story that I think young children will find very silly and easy to follow along. It will teach them to do what they love and not focus on what other people think. It will also teach children never let anything or anyone get in the way of your dreams. ( )

This tale takes you across the west discovering the American frontier as Carlotta uses her voice as her weapon to fight off foes. The setting played a major role in the story. Because the story is set in the American Frontier, Carlotta and her friends faced many challenges such as hungry wolves, drought and Skullneck Sam and his "gang of plug-uglies". No matter what they faced Carlotta was able to avoid harm by using her most powerful weapon, her voice. Everywhere Carlotta went she was able to use her voice to soften the hearts and bring joy to her previous foes. One theme I got out of this wacky tale is to " let the music take control". I chose this theme because through all of the challenges Carlotta faced, her powerful voice always saved the day. ( )
