The Bob-Whites (minus Dan as usual, that poor kid never gets to go anywhere) are visiting the Belden cousins in Idaho when they see a real Sasquatch! Cap goes missing, and everyone's convinced the Sasquatch got him. ( ) A childhood favorite re-visited. Is the story as good as I remember? – Yes What ages would I recommend it too? – Ten and up. Length? – Most of a day’s read. Characters? – Memorable, several characters. Setting? – Real world, pre - computer pre - air conditioning, pre - cell phone. Written approximately? – 1979. Does the story leave questions in the readers mind? – Ready to read more. Why does Mrs. Trask act out of character? Any issues the author (or a more recent publisher) should cover? Yes. A slight mention of the time frame of the story - as the teens are given far more freedom to come and go as they please than would be safe today. Also, the absence of computers and cell phones. Short storyline: Trixie Belden, Honey, Jim, and her brothers are visiting the Idaho Belden cousins and camping outdoors. A Sasquatch visits camp the first night, and other campers nearby panic and leave. While that one may be real, the one they see later on is not. They must find their missing cousin, a miner, and solve who the pretend Sasquatch is in order to be reunited all around. Notes for the reader: A great mystery! No violence and no murder. I begin to understand why I'd never managed to buy this title before - it's definitely NOT one of the better ones! That's the problem with having lots of authors produce a series. Most of them do a really good job and Trixie is still recognisably Trixie, but occasionally, as with this book, there is a title that just doesn't fit with the series and is a real disappointment. It was another title like this one (can't remember which now) that made me decide that I didn't really need to collect the entire series. The disappointing thing is that the author clearly had a love for her subject matter (Joe country, Idaho); it's just a pity that s/he really didn't manage to make the characters live. Brian, Jim and Honey practically disappeared altogether, Mart was just a charicature (with occasional better moments) and Trixie just didn't feel right. What a shame, but at least I had a chance to find out! sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha
