Iggy Peck, Architect is another fun science narrative book for younger students. I liked in this book of Beaty's we get a bit of a background into the teacher Miss Greer. To be honest, when picking this book up I didn't know how much science would be in it but was surprised to find Iggy Peck was engineering like Rosie Revere only he was building structures. Again, I loved how it showed ordinary objects being used for engineering showing students you don't need anything fancy to do science. I think this would be a fun book to read during an engineering unit where you could build bridges. I liked how it showed the whole class working together to build a bridge and how at the end Miss Greer let Iggy Peck teach the class about his passion. I would use this book most likley 2-5th ish grade. ( )

I love how this book rhymes! This playful story is about a boy who was destined to be an architect from a young age. Although his architectural aspirations got him into trouble with his grouchy teacher, he was determined to keep building with whatever materials he had. This illuminates the message that engineers don't need fancy materials and tools to build and design. At the end of the story, Iggy Peck must use his architectural knowledge to build a bridge and save his classmates on a field trip. Iggy Peck is unique and special and this story will empower other students to harness their own talents and never give up on their dreams. This book could be used prior to an engineering challenge to build a bridge. Students could try and build their own bridges after reading about the one Iggy Peck designed. The illustrations also made the book entertaining and fascinating. ( )

Beaty, A. (2018). Iggy Peck, Architect. New York: Abrams Books for Young Readers.
This book is most appropriate for preschoolers. This book is about a young boy named Iggy Peck who from the time he was little would create buildings out of common household items. As he got older he dreamed of becoming a great engineer. However, his teacher Miss Greer squashed his dreams, which caused Iggy to become deflated. Yet when Miss Greer gets stuck on an island during a field trip Iggy designs a way for her to get off the island and is hailed as a great engineer.

This is sweet poem written about a little boy name Iggy Peak, he loved to build buildings at a very young age and when he got to second grade his teacher, Miss Lila Greer said no buildings in her class would be made. The class went on a trip and ended up getting stuck, the students built a budge and Miss Lila Greer realized how important building was. I gave this 4 stars because when though is was really cute, there was not a lot of details about the actually building that Iggy Peak was doing, just that is was important to build things. ( )
