The legends of King Arthur and his knights of the Round Table have inspired some of the greatest works of literature--from Cervantes's Don Quixote to Tennyson's Idylls of the King. The first time I read this I was a college student immersed in literature. I loved the language and imagery, truly felt transported to another time and place. With this second reading I see James Bond. Arthur roams the countryside, bedding/leaving damsels, fighting/killing whatever gets in his way, getting himself wrapped up in conspiracies and evil plots, all without losing his smirk. OK, maybe Malory doesn't mention the smirk, but you know it's there. ( )
If you like any King Arthur story, then read this book. Chances are it comes from this tale. I like the story of King Arthur, but always like the magic part of the story. Mostly with Morgan le Fay and Merlin. In this you'll even see why most people make Morgan le Fay a good character. She is evil at first (she may have a reason though), but towards the end she has sympathy for her brother. It's odd, but works. One thing I found funny was how much the author changed the plot around. Like the age of the character and what happens doesn't stay the same. Which makes me believe that maybe it was written by more then one author. ( )
