At first, this book seemed a bit overwhelming. It starts out with a long list of characters (all cats) and two maps (one from the cats viewpoint and one from a human viewpoint). It took me a while to figure out that the maps were the same territory for the most part.
There are 4 cat clans and the one featured in this book (ThunderClan) has problems that their healer says "fire" will solve. (At this point, I expected there to be a large fire (forest or otherwise) that left pet cats roaming in the wild. These pet cats would then be taken in by this cat clan and trained to live in the wild.)
A pet cat is involved, but I'll let you read the book to see if my prediction was correct.
For me, the book started out slowly, but it did eventually get interesting. There is a lot of turnover of roles in the various clans. The humans don't feature much in this story. It remains to be seen if they will in the future. There also seems to be some treachery within the clans.
I do have a prediction of who will eventually become the ThunderClan leader, but I doubt I will search out the other books in the various series entries to see if it comes true. (
