( ) We've now read a few of those Star Wars DK Readers, and this one is probably the easiest one, with very basic vocabulary, aside from some Star Wars lingo. It's actually not about Wookiees, contrary to what the title might suggest (the cover of this [b:edition|2100514|What Is a Wookiee?|Laura Buller|http://d.gr-assets.com/books/1309296064s/2100514.jpg|863898] is a lot more representative of the contents of this book), although there is a page about Chewbacca. Instead, it features a few of the creatures encountered in the Star Wars series, such as wookies, Ewoks, droids, Gungans, Hutts, a Toydarian, a Dug, ... Great early reader and quite a bit easier than some of the other level 1 readers in this Star Wars series. C-3PO narrates and introduces us to some of the types of characters from the Star Wars films. So, the title is particularly misleading. Given the cover and title, one might get the idea that this is a clever take on a learning-about-animals photo-book. But instead of covering the habitat, behavior, lifestyle, or eating habits of wookies, the book instead sloppily splashes factoids about various aliens and specific characters from the franchise. But, kids who Star Wars fans will enjoy recognizing the characters from their pictures, though they'll already know everything in the text if they've seen the movies. Minus ten for including Jar Jar Binks. Good for grades K-2. This is a little almost throw-away book focused for kids perhaps 3-7. It has the look and feel of a quickly produced merchandised product of Star Wars, yet the publisher is the prestigious DK, so not sure what that's all about. The picture quality is really good, and each of the 30 or so pages has a crisp color large picture. The sentences are uniformly at an early learn to read level. So the book's solid. It does focus almost solely on Stars Wars volumes I-III, the LATER Star Wars recent movies, not the originals. sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha
