This book made me want to overindulge on fine wine and chocolate, and I don't even like chocolate, so that says something. It was decadent and rich. I had no idea of what I truly was getting into when I started this book. All I knew was as the story and mystery behind what was happening had me clamoring to read this as fast as I could while also savoring it.
I would recommend reading the prequel to this before to get an idea of how Rett and Emma came to be together in the deal that they were in. It helped set the pace for this story which started right away and without it might have made the story seem too fast-paced.
There is a richness to this story, while at the same time a simplicity that made the story take on a new dimension. I enjoyed that it was told in dual points of view because that really made the story take off by being able to see, and not guess, what was going on in the other's head. The anticipation between the connection of Rett and Emma was delicious. Their chemistry was fire. I enjoyed getting into their heads as they drew closer to that moment where surrender and control became mutual, just as the trust that they shared grew. When these two finally get together, it was sensual, and quite frankly, one of the hottest that I have read. There was just a magnetic pull to watching it unfold.
It does end on a cliffhanger. I still have no idea what exactly is going on and who is really pulling the strings. I cannot wait to find out. The end of June seems so far away right now. I highly recommend this book and author. So much so that I find myself in need of going back and reading other books that I have on my kindle by this author because she is special. ( )
