Quindi, per me, noioso. scarsa qualità di scrittura, lessico e linguaggio It is stated, on he book jacket, that this is a book to rival C J Sansom's thrillers - I beg to differ - it outshines C J Sansom's writing. The story entwines several threads together and holds attention right from the start. There are plenty of cadavers, there is mystery retained for more than 3/4 of the book, there is bullying and persuasion, torture, the Mediaeval European justice and overriding the whole thing the Catholic Church is portrayed as corrupt. A well respected physician has a desire to understand the circulatory system of the human body. A murderer uses that system to kill victims. How can the murderer have more knowledge than this traditionally educated man? At a time when surgery is limited because lack of knowledge of the circulatory system results in to great a blood loss how strong must that desire to understand be? Can the physician ultimately accept that gaining that knowledge has too high a price? This book contains all the intrigue and passion that comes with any good Templar and Grail story .. the jacket also states " ... this masterful thriller will hold you captive from the first page to the last ..." this statement I do agree with, well done Alfredo Colitto. sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha
In 14th-century Italy, Mondino is a university anatomist - a man of science in a land governed by the brutal Inquisition. But the corpse brought to Mondino's laboratory one stormy night defies natural law: The victim is a Templar knight, and his heart has been transformed into a block of iron. Is it alchemy? Or the diabolical work of an ingenious killer? Aided by his headstrong student Gerardo - a young man concealing a deadly secret identity - Mondino must outwit both ruthless Inquisitors and vengeful Templars if he's to stop a murderer who threatens to shake the very foundations of Christendom. Found it a bit of a struggle to keep remembering who was who but I was hooked. My brain did glaze over at some small scientific parts but loved Mondino and ?Derado. Grew to despise the Inquisitor himself . Expected a bit more gore but there was menace and just the description of the torture chamber at the end gave me chills. Did not see the twist and loved the sourceress. Brain was glad I finished but heart wasn't. And the book becomes a keeper which is a big thing for me.
Need more books in the English language by him. ( )
