Fiction. Romance. I'm not the obvious choice to run Burlington's coolest wine bar-quiet, brooding, clueless about tannin content, and always one wrong turn away from another downward spiral. But no one seems to mind that I'm a wreck. Besides me. I just focus on getting through each shift until the night a beautiful stranger appears, looking as lost and damaged as I feel. When a mutual friend calls in a favor, the sexy newcomer winds up crashing on my couch. I don't know if it's his melodic Cornish accent, or his ocean blue eyes, or the rock-hard body with the mysterious scars, but I get the feeling whatever happened to him runs far deeper than those wounds. Having Jax in my home makes my chest warm. Makes me shiver. Makes me want more. But I've got a pile of baggage and I don't want to be a burden on anyone let alone a man who seems to have enough demons of his own. Our chemistry is off the charts. His arms feel like home. The last thing I want is to screw this up. Is it wrong to hope we can heal each other? Or will one of us die trying? Contains mature themes.… (mais)

I thoroughly enjoyed this read. It was a great story with connection between Jax and Tanner. It has some dark angsty moments but through it all is love that we see before the boys realise! And the found family at the bar.

Can be read as a stand alone but if you can read book 1 first it would make things clearer. ( )

Both main characters were likable enough, but I just wasn't very invested in their story. The plot was pretty tame, and the climax was predictable. It wasn't bad, it just didn't entice me in.

Side note- on the audiobook one reader did an okay crack at a Cornish accent for the Cornish character, but when the other reader voiced that same character in the other PoV chapters it was in like a Northern Irish accent. They're pretty different and it was distracting. ( )

Oh, another great Vino & Veritas novel! exactly the opposite of the novel I've just written about - Crossroads by Riley Hart. These two MCs don't talk! They move around each other, gain sustenance from each other's company, but talk ... no.

To some extent, as a reader I felt left out of why Tanner and Jax were drawn to each other. Loneliness + chemistry = attraction. I guess that is as fundamental as it gets, so no mystery really.

This story dwells a lot on mental health, recovery from trauma ... finding yourself. It's deep and dark, moody and frustrating. I don't mind that. I may not have enjoyed the read as much as other novels in the series, but I got a lot out of it.

I haven't heard of or read Garrett Leigh before, but I'm willing to try more of her work.

Narrators Dan Calley and British? Michael Dean are new names to me - though Dan Calley's voice sounds familiar ... if he is in fact the voice of Tanner. Said it before but I wish the cast was written out properly on audiobooks, so I know who plays what role. ( )

This was cute but I wished the characters were more sociable, it's kinda weird when they don't open themselves even after the "healing" process started, it was a lack of development. ( )

Enjoyed this one a lot; Jax and Tanner both had a ton going on dealing with extended issues from their pasts, but I appreciated how the focus was on the here and now rather than a rehash of all the previous bad. They were lovely together, and I can really see their HEA. ( )
