A gentle and philosophical look at the events of 2020, and how we can deal with the challenges that life throws us in general. A book to share with the friends and family that we have been missing. A monumental storm (COVID-19) brings huge and sudden change. We follow a man (the author's grandfather, Brian Rupert Jewell) and his dog through the uncertainty that it brings to their lives. Through their eyes, we see the difficulties of being apart, the rollercoaster of emotions that we can all relate to, and the realisation that by pulling together we can move through difficult times with new perspective, hope and an appreciation of what matters most in life.… (mais)

Fantastic art work; sparse storytelling. The book is well worth purchasing for the amazing imagery. ( )

Yes it's a book about COVID and yes I would press it into the hands of many, many people. No, don't run away from it because of the topic because it both reached into my heart and tugged some strings and at the same time was like a warm hug of acknowledgement. It also ends with hope.
It's a graphic novel illustrated by Luke Adam Hawker with text by Marianne Laidlaw and it's a graphic poem. It saw me, in all the messy things that happened over the last 18 or so months and the hope that is danglling in our future. It offers no judgement, no certainty but it does make you feel that together we can move from here to a better place and that we should take the good we have learned from these years and keep them with us.
It is a book to treasure, simply told in very few words and with black and white line drawn illustrations but there's depth there that rewards re-reading, while I had it sitting beside me as I write this I kept re-opening it and pressing it on people to read. It encapsulates and yet offers a lot in very few pages. ( )

Samen.
