We get Anya's back story and meet the Slayer before Buffy, Buffy and Giles struggle to find their place with the arrival of Wesley and Faith in the mix, and some of Faith's back story is revealed. Over it all, the Watcher's Council reveals itself to be more of a menace than a resource.

And this is where I call it quits with this series. There's good moments in here but for an entire volume to be back to back side stories with no real cohesive arc tying things together and the ongoing issue of time jumps within the narrative, leave me unwilling to continue. A fun concept that fizzled for me. YMMV. (
