A book of interviews with people from both sides of the conflict, active, passive, victims, fighters, soldiers etc. Some of it very, very scary. And with all possible care and thouhtful attention, I cannot detect the same level of malignance on the Catholic side as it is expressed by the Protestants. The Catholics seem to me so much more wounded, naive, lost. The Protestants hard and righteous. sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha
Tony Parker spent five months in the heart of Belfast talking to the people who make up this riven and self-destructive society. He interviewd priests and politicians, schoolchildren and students, bus drivers, doctors, nurses, lawyers, shop assistants, community workers, single mothers, soldiers and policemen. He earned the trust of prisoners, their wives, mothers and children, and terrorists (both Loyalists and Republicans) implacably committed to violence as their means of expression. This book is the result of these interviews. Não foram encontradas descrições de bibliotecas. |
