Read this in one lazy day. Got a little tiresome - not the action scenes and double crossing, but the philosophical political stuff. Oligarchies. For Ben, the only choice is Hort and his black ops group. ( )

Ben Treven is tossed into a hellhole jail for a barfight in which he killed an Aussie sailor. Rescued by his commander, Hort, he is asked to help neutralize a former colleague, who is blackmailing the U.S. government over terrorist interrogation tapes. After trashing her two colleagues, Ben decides to join forces with a black female FBI agent to trap the target. Decent, but not on a par with the John Rain series. ( )

Much better than I thought it would be -- using historical news headlines of US torture, treatment and disappearing of international prisoners, the story focuses on a black ops member who finds himself stuck in the middle retrieving videos of human rights violations, and he ends up having to make some tough decisions. ( )
