This informational book was a very colorful counting book that used crazy looking monsters to show the various items used for counting. Even though this ws a Golden Look Look Book, it counted all the way to 21 which is great for kindergarten and first grade students. This book also incorporated other concepts such as subtracting, sharing, colors, etc. I liked the fact that the book not only had the numerical number, but it was spelled out also. This would help the student learn to sight read numerals and words. I enjoyed looking at the illustrations of this book, they were colorful and had cute monsters. I think you could use any of the items in the book as a hands on counting lesson, such as 19 books or 12 apples. You could also use the same items to teach math and colors. Little Monster’s Counting Book teaches the reader to count from one to twenty using monster illustrations. This book also introduces the reader to addition and subtraction in a very fun and subtle way. The monsters in the pictures are all doing something different and interesting to capture the imagination of the reader. I really enjoyed this book. I believe that it would be better off in my library for a child to read on an individual basis since it asked questions about the pictures that the child would need to see up close. Maybe it would work with a small group of children. It would definately help a child having trouble with numbers or about to learn about numbers. The illustrations of the monsters would keep the children interested in the book. With this book, I may create a game about numbers in the classroom. They would enter the classroom and I would have multiple objects all over. I would then ask the children questions such as how many socks are there and how many socks are on the ground. This could be good for starting subtraction. I also could have a certain number of objects cut and placed in bags. I would give them to the children and we could do an adding and subtracting activity together. sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha

This book was just okay to me. I liked the fact that it counted all the way to 20 instead of 10 and it also put in a little subtraction and addition in the mix. Other than that it was just like every other book I have read.
I think this book would work well in an at home daycare or something small like that. You could have each children count out loud when you get to that page and hold up how many numbers you are on. I would also use it in a pre-k class and read it to the children and then have them make me a counting book out of something from a fairy tale.
