Book #3 in the William Warwick series. In this novel, William is investigating corruption in his department. One of his detectives gets involved with the cop who is dirty. There is also a trial of a drug lord which William’s father and sister are prosecuting. Finally, William’s wife, Beth, becomes besties with the wife of William’s nemesis, who in the process of divorcing the wife, hid many priceless works of art. When he is presumed dead, Christine, the wife, stands to inherit it all. But of course there are twists in all of these stories, and the question is asked more than once— who will turn a blind eye?
I enjoyed this novel much more than Book 2, and look forward to book 4! ( )

What fun to have this series---I can hardly wait for the very next book---the sooner the better so I don't forget where I was in the story!!! The twists and turns are so beautifully constructed from all sides. Totally fun to read anything written by Archer. ( )

DI Warwick has a new assignment

“Turn a Blind Eye” is the third book in the “Detective William Warwick” series. Familiar characters continue from the previous books, and a few new ones are added. There are frequent mentions of events from the prior books, however there is enough background information included in the narrative to enable new readers to follow along. Of course, the most substantial reading experience will be for regular readers of the series.

The story begins shortly after the previous book ended; now the perpetrator is going to trial. This involves not only DI William Warwick as a witness but also his family since his father and sister are presenting the Crown’s case. Meanwhile, Warrick’s new assignment is as head of the anti-corruption team. This job plunges him into a top-secret undercover investigation of corruption and misdeeds in Metropolitan Police Force itself. He faces complex moral challenges as the team scrutinizes the life of a detective who seems to be living beyond his means. The investigation is complicated, and many people seem to be willing to overlook the obvious.

“Turn a Blind Eye” has many seemingly disconnected pieces that come together in unexpected ways. Things that might appear casual or unimportant at the time become significant later. I received a review copy of “Turn a Blind Eye” from Jeffrey Archer and St. Martin’s Press. It is somewhat predictable, however it is quick to read, and there are enough twists and turns throughout to keep readers turning the pages. ( )

After the collapse of the Rashidi drugs trial William Warwick is working undercover with his team to expose police corruption. Meanwhile his nemesis Miles Faulkner has apparently died in mysterious circumstances. However life is never quite so simple...
These William Warwick novels are a sheer delight and this is no exception, pacy and complex but still with a wit and joie de vivre. They skirt very close to pastiche but Archer is an old hand at knowing how to draw the reader in. OK this will never win literary prizes but the author has always aimed at entertaining the masses and the reader knows what they will get with this! ( )

Newly promoted Detective Inspector William Warwick is assigned to work undercover to expose corruption in the Police Department. He and his team, Rebecca Pankhurst and Nicky Bailey, focus on Jerry Summers, an officer whose life style appears to be above his income. Nicky is relatively new to police work and while to get close enough to him to get information, ignores warnings about his relationship with women and falls for him.
Additional plots involve a drug baron and a financier who dies suddenly, making his ex-wife, a recent friend of Warwick’s wife, quite wealthy through a somewhat unusual method of raising money.
Much of the story takes place in a courtroom.
TURN A BLIND EYE is the third book in the William Warwick series. It can be read without having read the previous two. It’s a decent, quick read with some predictable twists. ( )
