First of all thanks to Anuja for sending me this book for a honest review. This is the book about the most beautiful woman in the mythology more beautiful than the Indra's so called apsaras Menaka, Urvashi and other apsaras, this is about Mohini the enchantress who is a part of the Protector Vishnu. Mohini who is the dazzling dream girl of many asuras, devas and also humans.

The book consist of short stories related to Mohini. First short story is related to how and why Mohini came into existence. This story starts with the asuras head priest shukra's mother Kavyamata who becomes saviour of Asuras as they are been attacked by the devas. While helping the asuras Kavyamata is killed by the protector as she was in a verge to kill many devas at a time by using her inner power. Shukra seeing her mother die starts searching for the way to make people alive from dead. To stop this Indra even tries to sabotage his plan by sending her own daughter Jayanti. Shukra learns the way to make people alive after death. As shukra does not share the learning for bring people back from dead to the devas and asuras. Vishnu sows a seed of churning the ocean to the deva's and asura's.

Next short story is about how they plan for churning the ocean. How they used the mount mandhara as the churning stick and used kurma the tortise as the base for the stick and while vasuki the snake which is used by vishnu for is resting bed was used as the rope. How while churning different things come out like the indra's airavata, then mahabali's three headed horse, the apsaras, the goddess of wealth shri, poisonous halahala and last but not the least the amrita, for which the churning was done. This is where the main protagonist enters in the story(This whole story is written in perspective of Mohini.) how she tries to deviates the asuras from getting their own share of amrita and whole is given to the devas. But when the amrita comes out of the ocean it makes all the asuras, devas and also humans immortal which leads to totally a different problem where in mohini is again pitched in.

Another short story is about chandra and tara who is a wife of Brishapati the main priest of devas. This story is about how Tara leaves her husband Brishaspati and falls in love with chandra and also leads to war between the asuras and devas.
There is also a very short story about mohini and Aravan which is related to the Mahabharata where mohini marries Aravan before his death. Next story is about sastha or ayappa who is the offspring of shiva and vishnu.Overall this book consist the brief part of Mohini in different eras.
Overall the book is very informative and many things. Vocabulary of this book is very high for example if 1 person reads a normal book in a day he would read Anuja's book in 2 days as of you loose concentration while reading the book you may loose the plot. Anuja really uses very difficult vocabulary in her books and which takes lots of efforts to understand.

I would say its a very good Goodread... :)
