Man, Harriet's adventures are so hilarious! Also, I love that she answers everything with violence. It speaks to my heart. And, of course, it's great that her friends hold her back from said violence. Sure. Whatever. ( )

Adored it. I love the way Vernon reworks both generic fairytale tropes and specific stories. Here, I particularly love that the idea of heroism and princess-as-trophy-wife get further separated -- that Harriet keeps getting involved in rescues, not because she is after some specific (extrinsic) reward, but because she does what is right. ( )

A fun read, per usual. Secondary benefit: Now I want breakfast. ( )

When Heady the hydra's egg is stolen, Wilbur comes to Harriet for help. Their search leads them to a tall tower - and the only way in is the extremely long, magical tail of the young rat living at the top. Ratpunzel has been kept in the tower all her life, with only her "Mother Gothel" to visit and take care of her, and cookbooks for company. Naturally, Harriet decides to get Ratpunzel her freedom, along with stealing back Heady's egg.

Another delightful twisted fairytale, full of humor (and at least one trip to the hardware store). ( )
