Daisy Hobson lives her whole life online. A marketing manager by day, she tweets her friends, instagrams every meal and arranges (frankly, appalling) dates on Tinder. But when her social media obsession causes her to make a catastrophic mistake at work, Daisy finds her life going into free-fall. Her sister Rosie thinks she has the answer to all of Daisy's problems, a digital detox in a remote cottage in Cumbria, that she just happens to need help doing up. Soon, too, Daisy finds herself with two welcome distractions: sexy French exchange-help Jean-Marie, and Jack, the brusque and rugged man-next-door, who keeps accidentally rescuing her. But can Daisy, a London girl, ever really settle into life in a tiny, isolated village? And, more importantly, can she survive without her phone?… (mais)

A great book to get your through a reading slump. Fun and cute story that breezes by and never feels like it loses pace. If anything the conclusion feels a little too quick. The dialogue was slightly stilted at times but it was forgivable. Prompted some real introspection about my own social media habits. ( )

A wonderful contemporary romance. Charming, funny and it made me think about my own digital obsession. ( )

This is light-hearted 'chicklit' with quite a serious theme - that of social media addiction. The opening chapter is rather salacious and full of innuendoes, and nearly put me off continuing. But I'm glad I did - and realised, much later in the book, that it was important as a kind of prologue.

The main story is about Daisy, a marketing expert who makes a huge mistake when she's out on a date and very tired... and this is the catalyst for a complete change in lifestyle, albeit a very reluctant one at first.

I didn't laugh out loud, despite the claims on the front, but once I got used to the informal present tense style, I did smile once or twice. And once I was about a quarter of the way through, I found it difficult to put down.

More bad language than I'm comfortable with, and a widespread acceptance of promiscuity that slightly shocked me... but a good story overall, with likeable main characters and some nicely caricatured minor ones. ( )
