    • A dark academic debut fantasy with an established cult following that reads like The Secret History meets The Umbrella Academy.
    • The first in an explosive trilogy
The Alexandrian Society, caretakers of lost knowledge from the greatest civilizations of antiquity, are the foremost secret society of magical academicians in the world. Those who earn a place among the Alexandrians will secure a life of wealth, power, and prestige beyond their wildest dreams, and each decade, only the six most uniquely talented magicians are selected to be considered for initiation.
Enter the latest round of six: Libby Rhodes and Nico de Varona, unwilling halves of an unfathomable whole, who exert uncanny control over every element of physicality. Reina Mori, a naturalist, who can intuit the language of life itself. Parisa Kamali, a telepath who can traverse the depths of the subconscious, navigating worlds inside the human mind. Callum Nova, an empath easily mistaken for a manipulative illusionist, who can influence the intimate workings of a person's inner self. Finally, there is Tristan Caine, who can see through illusions to a new structure of reality??an ability so rare that neither he nor his peers can fully grasp its implications.
When the candidates are recruited by the mysterious Atlas Blakely, they are told they will have one year to qualify for initiation, during which time they will be permitted preliminary access to the Society's archives and judged based on their contributions to various subjects of impossibility: time and space, luck and thought, life and death. Five, they are told, will be initiated. One will be eliminated. The six potential initiates will fight to survive the next year of their lives, and if they can prove themselves to be the best among their rivals, most of them will.

Short and sweet. I liked that it provided a glimpse at the characters and their true lives and selves before they were influenced by the Society. It was refreshing to read after the darker tone of The Atlas Paradox. ( )

I will most certainly read this book once I have a physical copy but the audiobook from storytel was super engaging as well.

For someone who is holding her breath for a sequel of her most favourite dark fantasy - Ninth House, The Atlas Six came as a welcome distraction.

The reason why I was attracted to this book is because it was a self-published digital novel that went so viral that not only were the publishers fighting to release it but also a tv adaptation is on its way.

So, unlike ‘NewYork Times Best Selling’ popular novels that go viral most essentially due to the PR, this one was story driven.

All the hype stands true. The story revolves around the Alexandrian Society and their tradition of choosing Six powerful MEDIANS (aka people with varied magical abilities) to join them after they go through some training. This time, they are under the care of Atlas Blakely.

The catch to this recruitment is that only 5 of the 6 medians will go on to become members and unlock privileges that are unremarkable. The elimination is the job of the 6 medians themselves.

When you know this is a series that has so many characters and a new world, the book one usually is used to set up the plot and introduce the characters. While this is the case here, the characters are to die for.

As character driven as the book is, the story doesn’t waver. There are layers and twists that are unravelled at the right time and it does not get overwhelming.

As densely packed and rich with emotionally flawed characters as the book is, it was not enough. Waiting for the sequel to be out to latch on to it and get more tea!!!! ( )

This book was so interesting...so different from anything I've ever read. Definitely the most unique book I've read this year. The characters drive this book, however; you, the reader, knows the plot is just as important. You just don't know why yet because there is so much mystery and intrigue. Parisa interested me so much because of her mind reading ability. I really liked the chapters when she reads Dalton's mind. Dalton is an animator, and Atlas is using him for something. I hope we understand more about why Atlas needs him in the second book. Tristan was also really interesting to me because his power was really vague. He slowly discovers more of what he can do as the story progresses, but he still doesn't fully know by the end of the book. Blake is really good at pacing the story; she lets the reader know information when she wants them to know. In my opinion, it's hard to predict anything unless you're used to reading books like this one. Well done. I understand why this book was so hyped now. ( )

I expected a lot more action from a book on magic but what i got wasn't boring either so my rating will probably improve with the next book
