This Little Golden Book is fun for every STAR TREK enthusiast, not just young alphabet-learning pre-readers. It’s clever [look for references to four shows in the STAR TREK universe] and many characters, although not mentioned by name, are included in the illustrations.

However, as with earlier books in this series, some of the illustrations more closely resemble unflattering caricatures. And there’s a strange disconnect between the cover and the text: C is for Captains on the cover [with a picture that includes Kirk, Janeway, and Sisco but Picard is oddly absent]; in the text, C is for Communicator. Nevertheless, there’s much to appreciate in the choices made for this STAR TREK-themed A-B-C book; fans of the series may find a smile or two within these pages. ( )
