I received an ARC of this book to read through Edelweiss+. All opinions are my own. The Forever Girl by Jill Shelves is the sixth book in her Wildstone series. It can be read as a stand-alone. Maze Porter reluctantly returns to Wildstone for the wedding of her best friend and sister of her heart Caitlin Walsh. Her reluctance stems from the guilt she carries over the death of Caitlin’s younger brother and knowing that she will be meeting up again with Walker Scott, who once meant everything to her. Walker’s still unsure why everything went wrong with Maze and is not looking forward to letting her know that what happened in Vegas means he’s got some papers for her to sign. I loved this second chance at love story, and as always, Jill Shalvis writes characters whom you want to be best friends with and balances laughter and angst with the perfect amount of steam. This is my first Jill Shalvis but is for certain not to be my last. Brilliant writing, well-developed characters, and a story that may appear to be predictable but is not. Issues are dealt with in ways that only lifelong friends find themselves facing. I love how each character is brought to life to bring their thoughts and emotions to life. You will understand each person's role in the friendship circle and why their lives can never truly be distanced, even when circumstances could have torn them apart. Grief for their 9-year-old brother/best friend will never end. You will NOT regret this beautiful story that will remain on your bookshelf of favorites. ( )

Maze must attend the wedding of her estranged best friend. This turns into more than she bargained for. It becomes a walk down memory lane to some unpleasant memories. Maze must face up to these memories and her attraction to Walker.

This story has a lot of characters to keep up with but once you get the hang of who, what, when and where…it takes off like a rocket. I enjoyed the interactions between Maze, Cat, Heather and Walker. These people had me laughing out loud and wanting to slap them all at the same time. I also loved Maze and Walker! OMG…WHAT A GREAT TEAM.

No one does snarky like Jill Shalvis. I swear this author can make me cry, laugh and snort all in the same sentence.

Need a fun, sometimes serious romance…this is it!

Jill Shalvis writes the type of books that pull you into the characters lives, loves, family & pain. It’s the type of story that you can’t put down until it’s done & you struggle the next day. I read this twice because I knew I missed things & enjoyed it just as much the second time.

The measure of a 5 star read for me is that the story has to pull me in & feel every emotion the character has to be feeling. I cried. I laughed. I felt happiness, grief, guilt & love all between the covers of this one story. I could basically restate the blurb in different words but to me, this story was all about the emotion, the family that was chosen not related by love & their desire to get past their feelings from the past to come back together. This was a wonderful story & one of Ms. Shalvis’ best. ( )

#FirstLine - PROLOGUE: Maze Porter was good at pretending to be fine, but since no one could see her, she dropped all pretense and stopped twenty-five yards short of her goal, unable to so much as swallow past the lump stuck in her throat.

I loved this book so much. It had such great character development. You got to really know each character; where they came from, what their struggles were, and what was holding them all back from being together. It was beautifully paced and you really get drawn into the story. There are some great side stories and some big surprises. I will definitely be checking out other books in this series. A must read for those who want to get lost in a great story!!!
