An eclectic mixture of things has been poured into this slender volume: the longest piece is a short story, there are some poems, an essay, an interview... THIS REVIEW HAS BEEN CURTAILED IN PROTEST AT GOODREADS' CENSORSHIP POLICY See the complete review here: http://arbieroo.booklikes.com/post/334929/post But here's a bonus Goodreads-only bit: There's an interview in here in which LeGuin bemoans the state of the modern publishing industry as it attempts to mass market to the lowest common denominator. Now - can you think of any way in which this might be spreading and contaminating all book-related activities and how it might lead to attempted censorship and the defeat of the purpose of reading in the first place - the free exchange of ideas. Answers in the comments please! ;-) **The Wild Girls** by *Ursula K. Le Guin* contains a short story/novelly named like the book, two essays, a couple of poems, and an interview with the author. I liked the short story well enough, but it was like the remainder of the book: agreeable but inconsequential. The essays held opinions I liked, without anything actionable, and the interview showed a person I liked, but nothing more than that. sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha

Newly revised and presented here in book form for the first time, this Nebula Award-winning story tells of two captive "dirt children" in a society of sword and silk, whose determination to find a glimpse of justice leads to a violent and loving end. Also included is the nonfiction essay "Staying Awake While We Read" which demolishes the pretensions of corporate publishing and the basic assumptions of capitalism, and "Outspoken Author Interview," which reveals the hidden dimensions of America's best-known sci-fi author.
