Her whole renovation takeover and handling of the hive was entertaining and very well done. I love her relationship with Crispin and it would be terrific to have a book with all of the new couples coming together and interacting. I think at this point I’ve read everything by Gail Carriger and I can’t wait for the next one. Conveniently it also works for the "A Spy Novel" part of my 2020 reading challenge. ( ) This story finds Dimity all grown up from the Finishing School and working as a successful spy for her Majesty’s government. It seems that she has feelings for her handler the War Office has given her for a mission into a vampire hive that is going Goth. Dimity and Sir Crispin must play husband and wife as they work to turn this failing hive around before the vampire queen will have to be staked. A few characters from the Parasol Protectorate make a cameo with makes this story all the more fun. A sweet story with the additional of finding out more about hives and how they work outside of London. I love when Carriger's books focus on a particular household (in this case a vampire hive, in previous stories a werewolf pack). The pure chaos of all the characters and one person, who is also chaos, trying to wrangle them is absolutely delightful. Dimity and Cris are so stupid (for each other) and I love them. It was great to see Pillover again, even briefly. The empowerment and validation Justice received from literally every character to be herself without fuss (aside from, of course, the paramount business of clothes shopping) made my heart swell. sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha

Dimity Plumleigh-Teignmott, code name Honey Bee, is the War Office's best and most decorative fixer. She's sweet and chipper, but oddly stealthy, and surprisingly effective given the right incentives. Sir Crispin Bontwee was knighted for his military service, but instead of retiring, he secretly went to work for the War Office. Mostly he enjoys his job, except when he must safeguard the Honey Bee. Neither one is a vampire expert, but when the Nottingham Hive goes badly Goth, only Dimity can stop their darkness from turning bloody. And only Crispin can stop an enthusiastic Dimity from death by vampire. In a battle for survival (and wallpaper), Dimity must learn that not all that sparkles is good, while Cris discovers he likes honey a lot more than he thought.--Back cover.
