This was fun an eeriy and creepy inspired read. it also remidend me of the world building of shadow hunters with so many types of characters!! I also like the long term and mystery from the past and how this connected to the grandma past. I also think that beecause we had so many characters it was a bit confusing on who was who. I also really did like the drawing style as well!! It was a super quick read as well!! I also really did like the drawing style as well!! It was a super quick read as well!! I am so relieved that this graphic novel was awesome! I am a huge fan of Chmakova's realistic fiction graphic novels, and I was nervous I might not like The Weirn Books as much. Don't worry, I loved it! Chmakova's illustrations are just as expressive and funny as ever, and I loved getting to know this family of magical creatures that passes as human. Their creepy adventure is suspenseful and classic, set in an abandoned old school with a secretive past. I can't wait for the sequel. Great start! This is the middle-school series of NightSchool: The Weirn Books series (which is for High school, YA). Chmakova takes you away to a quaint, sleepy town that is charming to humans, but at night reveals a secret world of the magical night realm. This book follows students Ailis and Na'ya who are weirns (Witch born people with a demon-bound spirit attached). A shadow falls upon another student and is somehow linked to a dilapidated abandoned building. They investigate this mystery and find more than they bargained for. This is such a fun start to a series! The young characters are flawed, average, and share the same problems as any young teen at school. The lead characters find courage and acceptance as they progress through the story. You also learn a bit more about the Night Realm world and its various creatures. It is almost like a Hogwarts for the supernatural! Fun and exciting! It had a great pace, and I can't wait until the next book in the series! sem resenhas | adicionar uma resenha

In the Night Realm, vampires, shifters, weirns, and other night things passing for human prowl the streets... but they still have to go to school! Ailis and Na'ya are pretty average students (NOT losers), but when a shadow starts looming and a classmate gets all weird, they are the first to notice. It gets personal, though, when Na'ya's little brother D'esh disappears--It's time to confront the secrets of the forbidden mansion in the Silent Woods!
