One of my favorite discoveries of 2019 was this author. I have devoured almost every book that she has written this year. There is just something about her writing style that speaks to me. There is a depth to her characters and storylines that keeps me invested from the first page to the last. I never want it to end.

My interest has been piqued since Asher was first introduced and it only got more pronounced in this book. I thought I loved Nikolai but he might need to move over from the top spot because sweet holy hell... Even though this is the Russian mafia, which means there is no room for sugary sweet outcomes, never do I get turned off by the actions and lifestyle. There is a reason that this is the criminal underbelly there is still something inspiring about the sense of loyalty that comes from those born into this world. This is especially true with this book. It wouldn't authentic if it was sweet and "legal" Which is yet another reason that I love this author. She takes those risks, knowing that there are many out there that would find this uncomfortable, and writes it anyway. Zariah was perfect for him. I loved how they had to overcome so much treachery to bring the real truth to light and find the connection that they had since they were children.

The suspense, the mystery, and sweet holy titfire--the steam was worth every minute. I didn't want the story to end. Mafia is my favorite. Russian mafia for some reason is even higher So rarely is it done right. Yet, This author gets it right EVERY time. I hope Wyatt gets his story and I hope there will be more glimpses of Nikolai and Asher in it. I cannot recommend this author enough. ( )
