There's no such thing as too many books, simply not enough places to put them Decluttering is all the rage, but what do you do when your preferred interior decor is miles of overstuffed bookshelves? If you can't bring yourself to clear your collection, SHELF RESPECT will validate your life choices. Do you alphabetise your books or organise by genre... or (heaven forbid) colour? Have you merged your collection with your other half's? (And do you write your name inside the cover, just in case?) Do you keep all the books you've read, or only the most cherished? Is there such a thing as too many books? (No.) Bound to provoke (good-natured) debate between Bibliophiles, SHELF RESPECT is a charmingly illustrated book in defence of towering TBR piles and overflowing shelves... no matter how you choose to organise them.… (mais)

Entdeckt habe ich den Song von Nick Cave: Red right Hand, wohl inspiriert von John Milton’s „Das verlorene Paradies.“ Darin der erste Kommentar bei YouTube: „I made my cat listen to this song and now it's smoking cigarettes and started calling family meetings…“ Sehr ungewöhnlich, in der Tat.

Was sich so alles in Büchern findet, Seite 103: gepresste Blumen, Quittungen, Fotos, Briefe, Anmerkungen, … Unglaubliches!

„Mich armen Mann - mein Büchersaal war Herzogtums genug.“ (Shakespeare, Der Sturm, 1. Aufzug, 2. Szene)

Eliot in Apokalypse New.

A. Edward Newton, A Magnificient Farce, And other diversions of a Book Collector, 1921)

A collection of short essays and lists about books and bibliophiles. Topics include "Is It Compulsory to Finish A Book Once We've Started It?", "In Praise of the Bookcase", in which the IKEA Billy bookcase is discussed, the topic of merging book collections by new couples, and "Strange Things Found in Books". A fun little read for book lovers. ( )

This is a fun little book with interesting short essays about all things to do with books, as well as book related quotes and lists. Easy to pick up and read. ( )

A very quick and easy read. Has interesting facts and witty, if simple writing. I didn't know reading books about books was an option, but I'm glad I do now. Has encouraged me to read more classics to be able to recognize more names. Some points in the book felt a little simple, maybe like they didn't really need to be stated, but as a sweet, quick read for someone book obsessed (would a lovely gift) it was a nice lil read. ( )
