10 sadistic killers. One state. Countless lives that will never be the same again. To the outside world, New Mexico is the epitome of art, culture, and pristine, picturesque landscape. For those whom have had the misfortune of bearing witness to what lies below the surface, behind the façade of majestic mountains and miles of beloved desert land, life in New Mexico will forever be jaded by the memory of heinous acts perpetrated upon those they loved. This often-fabled territory conjures up images of the Wild West, where the blood of ancestors is as commonplace as the cacti, but that dark history opened the floodgates to the worst of modern society. Deep in the crevices of the land lay secrets--secrets that leave current residents and weary investigators flummoxed and hungry for the truth. Caused by killers you will soon meet, which includes: David Parker Ray: The Toy Box Killer Ricky Abeyta: The Chimayo Massacre Linda Henning & Diazien Hossencofft: Murder Without a Body Shane Glen Harrison & Esther Beckley: Spree Killers Robert Fry: The "Indian Roller" William Bonney: aka "Kid" Antrim aka "Billy the Kid" And More What Amazon readers are saying: ★★★★★ "This book informs and makes us shudder, avoiding 'the things that go bump in the night.'" ★★★★★ "To learn the truth of what has happened in the Land of Enchantment, New Mexico you'll have to read this informative book." ★★★★★ "I highly recommend this book to all true crime readers as you can't go wrong with a book by Ryan Becker." ★★★★★ "I love the mix of old & new stories that shaped a state's criminal history so to speak !" ★★★★★ "This book was a page-turner from the beginning. Well worth the read." ★★★★★ "Becker remains a highly recommended author of mine when it comes to the macabre and darker sides of humanity." Read on to discover what secrets the soil holds. Find out who roams the land and just how far they were willing to go to put their depravity on display.… (mais)

This review was written for LibraryThing Member Giveaways.
I have received an ARC Mobi.file copy [Advanced Reader’s Copy] of this book from the author through a giveaway he had on LibraryThing and the following is my honest opinion.

While I’m an aficionado when it comes to books belonging to the genre of True Crime books [just look at the Amazon badge I’ve got on my profile there], I also happen to be a devotee of non-fiction Christian books [just check out my reviews where about 45% books I reviewed so far this years have belonged to this genre]. While the genres might seem to juxtaposition to each other, when it comes to reading True Crime books, both genres happen to intrigue me since they both educate me as to what drives individuals to commit the heinous crime of murder, and many times more than one.

The official nickname [since April 8, 1999] for New Mexico is the “Land of Enchantment” which is due to its rich history and scenic beauty; this nickname had been placed on its license plates going back to 1941. However, this is merely a smokescreen to what is actually happening there far too often for this image.

Mr. Ryan Becker, once again, this time with the assistance of Brenda Brown and True Crime Seven, has presented to his readers a well-research and also well-written expose of has happened behind the façade I’ve just mentioned.

No one wants to have the truth hidden from, especially when it concerns their lives and what is happening around where they’re living. These individuals yearning hungrily for the truth to be made known, the truth which might have the investigators as well, flabbergasted by the truth when they found it, regarding any of the heinous acts and their perpetrators contained within the pages of this book.

The book’s description lists just some of the individuals whose atrocious deeds are discussed in the book, there are four more:

David Parker Ray: The Toy Box Killer
Ricky Abeyta: The Chimayo Massacre
Linda Henning & Diazien Hossencofft: Murder Without a Body
Shane Glen Harrison & Esther Beckley: Spree Killers
Robert Fry: The “Indian Roller”
William Bonney: aka “Kid” Antrim aka “Billy the Kid”

To learn the truth of what has happened in the Land of Enchantment, New Mexico you’ll have to read this informative book, a book I’ve given 5 STARS to Mr. Becker and all those involved in the writing of it. ( )
