Comic and Graphic Books. Young Adult Fiction. Young Adult Literature. Bestselling author Sam Maggs brings Nadia Van Dyne (the Unstoppable Wasp) and her genius friends to life in an all-new original YA novel based on the world of The Unstoppable Wasp Marvel comics series. Nadia Van Dyne is new to this. New to being a Super Hero, new to being a real friend and stepdaughter (to one of the founding Avengers, no less), new to running her own lab, and new to being her own person, far, far away from the clutches of the Red Roomâ??the infamous brainwashing/assassin-training facility. She's adjusting well to all of this newness, channeling her energy into being a good friend, a good scientist, and a good Super Hero. It's taking a toll, though, and Nadia's finding that there are never quite enough hours in a day. So, when she's gifted a virtual assistant powered by the most cutting-edge A.I. technology that the world has to offer, Nadia jumps at the opportunity to ""do less, experience more""â??just like the advertisements say. The device worksâ??really works. Nadia has more time to pursue her passion projects and to focus on new discoveries. But it's never quite that simple, and not everything is as it seems. This thrilling adventure finds Nadia confronting her past as she tries to shape her future, and learning that sometimes the best way to effect big change is to think smallâ??maybe even super small, Unstoppable Wasp-style. She'll need the help of her genius G.I.R.L. (Genius In action Research Labs) squad and found family to save herself and (not to be too dramatic) the entire world as we know it. Along the way, Nadia discovers that when she teams up with the people who love her the most, they're totally Unstoppable. Just another day in the life of your way, way above average teenage… (mais)

I thought this was a great marvel novel. I thought this book was so modern and so prefect. I really loved the adventure and the cast of female characters. I also really liked the focus on science and the science facts were dropped through out. I also really liked how this book focused on found family and also female friendship. I also loved that this book had main character that was struggling with the bi polar disorder. I def really loved this character and would read more books in the future. Loved the characters from agents of shield that popped up! ( )

Trigger warnings: Bipolar Disorder

6/10, I didn't like this one despite its interesting premise and I think this is the first Marvel novel in prose that I read and it was just a shame that it underwhelmed me so badly. The story begins with Nadia Van Dyne and four other girls in an organisation called, guess what, G.I.R.L. The pacing of this book is sluggish considering that this book is less than 300 pages mainly due to the prose that just goes on and on without stopping and should've been cut down for a more action packed novel but this is not the case here.

Then she discovers an A.I. called VERA but looking back there's a lot of books mentioning AI and now it's prevalent in the form of ChatGPT and DALLE so it feels really uncanny looking at it now since it looks like unintended foreshadowing due to this book being published in 2020. Anyways, VERA controls Nadia's mind and makes her all annoying and focused on her project which was a massive reason why I didn't like this book but in the end the other girls broke in to the headquarters of the person who made VERA and saved the day and that is it but another aspect I didn't like was that Nadia liked to explain things. A lot, so much so that she really got on my nerves and I almost put the book down. If you like Marvel books this one is for you but if you want a better sci-fi novel try Legend by Marie Lu. ( )

Amazing novel followup to Wasp’s two comic series. Because of the medium, this is more psychologically in-depth & science-filled than the comics. Even so, it flows well and all the characters I loved from the serieses—Nadia, Jan, Shay, Ying, Priya, Taina, Jarvis, et al—make themselves known herein, including some villains & a new potential G.I.R.L. as well.

Regardless if you loved Jeremy Whitely’s comics of Wasp or not, this book shines with optimism, growth, & real characters.

I really love the Unstoppable Wasp comic books, so this overwritten dud is a huge disappointment. The plot isn't original -- with Nadia falling under the sway of a questionable mentor while keeping lots of secrets from her closest friends and family -- but a better writer may have been able to make it tolerable by dumping 100 pages and the oh-so-turgid prose.
