In book two of the Castle of Dark Dreams series, Brynn McNair (a demon of sensual pleasure) can’t be around a woman for more than an hour without feeling compelled to strip naked and offer the woman sex. If he doesn’t, he’ll be in horrific pain until he makes the offer.
Kim comes from a long line of demon hunters, but wants to be normal to the disappointment of her family. Her and Brynn’s friendship builds fast, but they both believe it can’t go beyond that.
I really enjoyed the story. I soooo wish I could wrap poor Brynn up into a non-sexual hug and just take care of him for a while. I really would’ve liked to have known about his human life, but at least Ganymede explained the curse. Likewise, I also wanted to know if Kim’s hunter family will accept Brynn in her life.
The side characters were great. It’s been a year since book 1, and Eric and Donna are married. Holgarth is still as snooty as ever, Sparkle is sexy and wild, Asima’s back and driving Conall crazy, and Deimos gets a girlfriend (so sweet!). We also meet some new characters. Ganymede is a cosmic troublemaker just like Sparkle, and he’s her boy toy. Fo and Gabriel look like highly advanced cell phones, but they’re really demon detectors with human personalities.
The book is well edited, but sometimes the characters’ inner monologues and drawn-out thoughts slowed the pacing. As with book 1, the characters rarely cursed, so this is a great book to read if you prefer it when bad boys have hot sex but talk mostly clean.

A demon detecting camera phone? It talks, it reminds, it does not have a good record in detecting actual demons. Of course, Sparkle is around there somewhere. ( )

Brynn McNair is cursed whenever he is around a woman for more than an hour she owns his body for the night. Kim Vaughn just wants to find an ordinary man with ordinary problems and live an ordinary life. So naturally cosmic trouble maker Sparkle Stardust steps in to give them both what they need. But not necessarily what they asked for.
Nina Bangs delivers another story of love and fun with a little chaos thrown in for good measure. I definitely enjoyed it. ( )

I liked this one marginally better than Wicked Nights for a couple of reasons. While the supernatural matchmakers are still present, there's much less nagging going on, which was a big relief, and the sex, while still the focus of the story, was less self-consciously "ooh, daring!" The featured candy this time was red blow-pops--kinda goofy and obvious, but as they weren't mentioned on every second page, I didn't mind them.

Brynn is a sex-cursed demon. For 500 years, every time he's with a woman for one hour, he's under a compulsion to strip and offer her sex. Kim is a demon hunter. Both of them want nothing more than to be "normal". Which is the third reason for liking this one a bit better--there's a reason for Kim and Brynn to fall in love, even if all we see in the story is the lust.

There's an infestation of demons in Galveston, and Kim and Brynn and the rest of the inhabitants of the Castle of Dark Dreams as well as Kim's trigger-happy demon hunting family have to band together to stop it. They're aided by Kim's sentient demon detector, a cute character in itself.

One thing I do have to mention--Bangs does a great job of fitting the characters from the previous book in naturally instead of shoehorning them in. No

"oh, look who dropped by--Joe and Sue, who got married after all these problems and Sue's already expecting a baby boy who they'll name Jimmy and gosh, we hope their dog Waldo and their cat Frisky won't be too jealous" and then they never show up again

scene. (one of my pet peeves, in case the sarcasm wasn't clear enough)

It's a cute story, but don't expect anything more than some giggles and steam. ( )

I liked the other two in this series, the one before and the one after. Otherwise I would never have tracked down this one.

It was a good read with a satisfying ending and the same quirkiness as the other two. I enjoyed it. ( )
