Water is everywhere and is a splendid, miraculous thing. We see this in this poem. Along with amazing pictures and art, this book is great to help introduce a new type of poetry to students. ( )

The Wonder Thing takes the reader on journey around the world giving clues of what the "wonder thing" is along the way, which is, ultimately, revealed on the last page. It has very engaging and colorful drawings depicting the people, places, and animals that share this common "wonder thing." I really enjoyed this book and thought it could certainly lead to further discussion and how we are all connected through this "thing." ( )

'What is the wonder thing?...Powerful as rock, gentle as kisses, lovely as life is a miracle thing'. Through the use of pictures the author takes us around the world showing us how this wonder thing is everywhere. On the last page we see that it is water. You get to see how precious and connected water is to all of us.

I thought this was a good quick read. You could read it to let your students know about the importance of water on the Earth. It does not have a lot of text but it has illustrations to show the reader where you could find water, for instance in bath tubs, under the earth, and in rain forests. ( )
