This is the second book by Triana I've read and it's a total blast. The protagonist, high school cheerleader Kim White, is that rare kind of female psychopath whose sexual appetites become as twisted as those of her male counterparts. What starts as a mission to lose her virginity in what she considers an interesting way quickly morphs into a campaign to psychologically torture the man who takes it, which in turn expands into a quest to destroy his entire family.

Kim's escalating addiction to the suffering of others isn't satisfied with merely emotional destruction, and she soon sort of finds herself on an incidental killing spree. The first-person narration of her blithe descent into serial killer madness had me laughing out loud several times throughout the reading, and the graphic descriptions of her grislier actions will impact even those of us used to splatter fiction.

The only quasi-complaint I have about the novel is that I wanted more of the drawn-out mind games, but even this isn't really a flaw, the protagonist's growing impatience and recklessness are totally in keeping with serial killer psychology. I suppose I just wanted more time with this delightfully awful character. ( )
