This book is a good example of realistic fiction because the events in the story are not true, but they could all happen in real life. It is very realistic to imagine a group of girls having a sleep over, being scared by something unexpected, and seeking to discover what was causing the frightening events to happen.
In this book the author utilizes the third person, limited omniscience point of view. The narrator speaks as an outside party, with an emphasis on the thoughts and feelings of the main character, Nancy Drew. By using this point of view, the author of the book allows the reader to know what is happening, no matter who is in the room, which is especially important in a mystery book. However, by including the thoughts of Nancy, who is acting as the detective, the author shows the reader Nancy's mystery-solving process.
